We can use the CDC Flu Tracker Map to track the flu each week as it marches across the country during flu season, but it is not always kept updated so be sure to check with your local resources regarding current outbreaks and severity. The flu, RSV and covid are all doing the rounds here in North Central Florida—your local resources will give you the lowdown about where they are at in your neck of the woods. Resources include doctors, pharmacies, friends, social media groups, and your kids’ schools and moms’ groups.
My article “Oh Fluey” is old now, but it is as good as it ever was. The homeopathic healing solutions never change. The article is packed with homeopathic information and reminders to help you tackle the flu to the ground! It includes a Remedy Selection Chart you can print out and pin to your fridge for quick access during flu season! I am including my Coughs Chart here (scroll down to the end) because of the horrid coughs thisyear.
It’s always helpful to have a few frequently needed remedies handy just in case. Here are a few hopefully helpful quick notes!
Quick Notes #1: The Beginning
Ferrum phos 6X or 30C: For the first day or two. Low grade fever. No clear symptoms
Influenzinum 30C: For the first day or two, on its own or … alternating with the best indicated homeopathic remedy or cell salt.
Oscillococcinum: For the first day or two, on its own or … alternating with the best indicated homeopathic remedy or cell salt.
Aconite 30C: Flu symptoms appear suddenly and strongly. There’s a high fever, sneezing and chills. People are restless—and thirsty.
Quick Notes #2: The Midst
Gelsemium 30C: The #1 flu remedy with classic flu symptoms: feels achy and heavy all over. There’s a low grade fever with chills and no thirst.
Eupatorium 30C: The worst flu with the worst pains, bones feel liks they are broken. Head and eyeballs hurt. Everything is worse for movement.
Ferrum phos 6X or 30C: Dry, hacking cough with the flu with no strong symptoms.
Bryonia 30C: When Ferrum phos doesn’t help and the cough is getting worse and is painful.
Quick Notes #3: Recovering
Gelsemium 30C: Feels weak and heavy while recovering from the flu. Mind is empty. Just wants to lie down and not do anything much. Except sleep or nap.
Calc phos 6X: Simple physical fatigue after the flu—or any acute illness. No appetite and can’t sleep.
Kali phos 6X: nervous exhaustion with insomnia after the flu. Feels depressed and easily startled.
China 30C: Pale, anemic and dehydrated after a flu with sweating and/or diarrhea and inability to replenish fluids.
Notable mention: Influenzinum 30C for if a well indicated remedy simply doesn’t help.

Fluey Coughs
Sometimes there’s a cough with the flu. Coughs can be the most challenging to find good remedies for—for home prescribers and homeopaths alike. The fine tuning, the little details, the accuracy of the symptoms will make all the difference—between a remedy that helps a little and one that helps a lot. Use this chart to help you identify the repeating patterns of a cough.
